I could just get rid of the Compute piedmontese button completely. The current score will always be visible and will change immediately as the user modifies a penalty. The initial system score could always be visible so the user could have a reference point.

Perhaps the answers could be displayed in a grid so that you can see, say, where the abbreviations occur relative to one another. Abbreviations near other abbreviations will be penalized more.

Currently I am rating the words manually. This is tedious. It would be nice to crowd source this. Perhaps volunteers could be assigned one word to rate. With enough volunteers each answer could be rated by many people and the results averaged.
